You can hook them up to an amp. But do you know what wattage they are ? And you won't know what size amp to get unless you know what and how many watts they are.
You most likely won't lose the sound, you just won't have the extra enhanced sound that you would have with the missing speakers.
No you won't get shocked just make sure it does not have any power going to it. Not plugged in, and remove the batteries. Before hand

On the back of the Directv there are ( three outputs ) Yellow, Red and White. That is where you plug in your DVD recorder
Yellow is for Video, Red and White are for your left and right stereo...
If it is fairly new take it back. If it is not new then have a tech look at it. The longer you wait the more money it could cost you. Fix it before it gets worse. Something is defiantly wrong with it.

I would think you would have to take it back to where it was purchased, not any store is going to take it back without a receipt.

Go to Start, then Settings, then Control Panel then look up sounds and multimedia and check and see if they work through that. They test your equipment there.
I think that would depend on how many watts you CB puts out and also on how powerful your antenna is.
They sell a converter plug that you can plug your black and red
plugs into and convert it to a single plug for your stereo. Go to Radio Shack and tell them what you want. They have it.
