what does searching for authorized content mean? DirecTv?

i tried to record saturday night live and it worked fine for the first twenty minutes. the next thing i knew the screen went black and a message that said "searching for authorized content" came up. what does that mean and how can i get it off. I recorded it on about channel 532 or something like that
