Should I switch from Cable to DirecTV?

I have Comcast Cable now. I have a basic package w/digital and on demand, but no premium channels. It is still SOOO expensive (like $110 a month). And the On demand programs are not updated very often either.

Is DirecTV any good? Cheaper? Good selection of channels? Does it go out when the weather is bad?

No. Switch to another cable company if you can. Then I would recommend Dish over DirecTV. A friend told me they jacked up their rates to an outrageous amount after the special offer ran out.

We got rid of cable because of the expense. Now we just have the "free" tv and have our digital box hooked up to our tv. It has lots of channels that regular tv didn't have so it works for us and the price is right.

Cable is more expensive, but I had DirecTV previously. DirecTV's signal does have issues during weather storms, and I also had to deal with resetting the signal box even when the weather was fine.
They also screwed me on the "fine print" - by giving me a fairly cheap monthly price but it was a 2 year contract price. When I tried to cancel, they stuck me with a $500 bill for the remainder of the contract plus the cost of the receiver.....

Cable is way more expensive. I had DirecTV and really liked it, we had a couple problems but the tech came right out and fixed it. We have Dish Network now and I can't stand it, I would go with DirecTV. Any company you go with has customers that have had problems, but I have had less with DirecTV than Dish. DirecTV is about $10 more but it's worth the extra because they lock in your price, unlike Dish...
