I am looking to replace my LG EnV with the Samsung i760. In addition to other features, I want to take advantage of the WiFi capability since I have free WiFi broadcasted at my university. However, I have heard that with my current service plan for the EnV, I would still get charged for pic/video messages even though I have unlimited text/pic/vid messaging.

I was told by some that I would have to disable data transfer while using WiFi to avoid being charged per KB usage if you don't have a data plan. So here's the problem...

Supposedly this prevents me from sending pic/vid messages when I am not in range of a WiFi network and also doesn't allow them to be delivered directly to my phone when I am not in range. Instead, I would have to wait until i can connect to WiFi to 1.) get an alert that i have a message, and 2.) download the pics from the web.

Is this true? If so, is there any other solution besides paying $80/mo for a plan with unlimited data?
