    How to connect a Samsung 205BW Moniter to a Dell 2004 w/XP?

The moniter came with two cords to connect to the back of the computer, but there is only one that fits correctly... the other has no fit. I need help. I also think the main problem is that the monitor isn't receiving power from the power cable...why might this be since the computer is plugged into the outlet right next to it?
