I don't think so, but what do I know. I am thinking about getting a Sony STR-DG920 A/V receiver that upconverts to 1080, so if my TV already upconverts, then I can buy a cheaper A/V receiver. Then again, I don't think my TV, or any TV, upconverts.

No TV can upconvert guys - only the DVD player/recorder will perform this task.
