What drug was injected into Roger Waters when he became "Comfortably Numb"?

We all know the story, before a show his physician injects a little "Pin Prick" thatll keep him going through the show. I always thought it was heroin, back when it still had medicinal value.

And By "comfortably numb" He meant numb physically and emotionally? And anyways why make a song about it? I always thought roger waters was just a junkie and used the "doctor" just as an excuse to get away clean...i mean this guy wrote some of the most drugged up sounding music ive ever heard...More lsd type , thats why i only have 35 of their songs downloaded, its very slow and spacey i actually admire how they say they were a pretty "clean" band...Anyways thoughts?

I mean its the Mid 60s to all of the 70s were talkin about here.

    According to Rolling Stone:

"Waters based one of the saddest drug songs ever written on a sleazy Philadelphia doctor who injected him with tranquilizers before a gig when he was suffering from hepatitis. 'That was the longest two hours of my life,' Waters said. 'Trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.' "
