The usb port is there but it is not active, it is used for upgrading and testing purposes back at the Rogers warehouse.

It is virtually impossible to "hack" a cable box as the box requires a "zap" from Rogers every 72 hours, or it will lock out and not unlock.

Getting extra channels is impossible as well, as the way the zap" works, is it transmits the information from the main computer that is tied to your account and bill. If the entry for the channels you dont have isnt on your account it wont transmit the unlock for it.

If it does transmit the unlock for it, it will also generate the cost on your bill.

The USB port is there because the box is basically a computer, and it is cheaper to to install it at manufacture than deal with it later, should a need for the ports arise. In the meantime they are disabled.

As for hacking, if it were possible, the channels would be stolen.
Free implies they give it to you, and that just doesn't happen often with cable.

Well, I for one saw it with my own eyes, a buddy of mine bought an HD cable box for $750 and gets EVERY SINGLE channel on it! Including PPV and Porn and all the internationals...

So it IS possible. Just no info on the forums on how to do it. :-(

I have seen it for myself today.. it is possible PPV and porn.. no HBO on demand or rogers on demand

It's a rogers HD PVR box just like you'd buy from the store not a black box. Something clearly is modified an reprogrammed in the box

I've heard of this being possible, and have a contact who says he could get it done pretty expensive, and no guaranties!

Buddy, Rogers box which you saw is NOT hacked... These boxes are unlocked by Rogers employees... and when you buy these boxes they will tell you it has no guarantee after a certian period.... you go to flea market and you can buy them from $500-$800 range...

I ordered Bell ExpressVU, tech could not install dish because of sat position was not traceable from my location.... and this bell tech offered PVR for $800... thats tell you how much crap is going on at Rogers... Rogers is a f**ked Organization.

Instead of paying $800 for stolen Rogers box... I have subscribed to Rogers until N3 fix not available and I will advise everone to do same.
