I did the play. I played the part of Alice Kinnean.
I do not remember how I felt after just reading the script, but our production turned out really well. We did it in-the-round on a fairly small set. The smaller space really helped to focus the audience and made it very intimate and emotional.
Our director read the play and had a lot of good ideas. He really made it dynamic, and it would sort of toss and turn over the stage. It made the transformation of Charlie very riveting.
I think it could easily turn bad, though, if a director didn't have much to bring to the piece.
