This is why I think religion is ridiculous...?

They are just groups of people who accept a god for the reward of "Heaven" & do good in the fear of going to "Hell".

These "places" were obviously a lure in regards to followers.

Take away "Heaven" & "Hell" & religious people will be no more.

Selfish bastards.

Athiests = People who do good for the kindness of their heart. Not for a reward or because they fear punishment.

If you think about it, religion is just a gamble. There are so many. You are gambling with your life by choosing one religion, do you honestly think a "God" as peaceful as religious people try and make him out to be, would put you through this?

If religion were true, there would only be one.

When will people just open their eyes.

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." - Albert Einstein, "Religion and Science", New York Times Magazine, November 9, 1930

If there is no heaven or hell then there is no good or bad. If there is no good or bad, then an atheist cannot do good out of the kindness of their heart because there would be no such thing. There would be no kindness because and there would be no evil. Atheists say there is no good or bad, life just is. You my good man are not an atheist.

You should check out the Mormon Church.

we have opened our eyes

no religion is the right one

Jesus died and rose from the dead to provide salvation for all. we need to call to God to save us and put our faith in him.

You look at religion from its surface and don't bother to look deeply into it to find the true essence of spirituality. Then you go on to call hermits who lived in the desert, saints who have been martyred for their beliefs, people who dedicate their entire lives to God, "Selfish bastards."

Atheism lacks the sense of consequences and has no moral foundation. It is true there are good atheists, and twits who are religious, but you are the one being bias and label religious people as blind.

Religion is a gamble to the agnostic/atheist. But it is through seriousness and reasoning that you can come to know Jesus Christ.

Atheists and Christians both alike often have moral convictions or ethical systems and the goodness of heart to act independently as well. I really think the question is too radical a view for an enlightened Atheist.
