With religious faith being in turmoil at the moment, this begs the question. Do we still rely on faith the way that we used to in the middle ages or has this dependency changed to a more independency?

Religion is not needed anywhere. It has been the source of war and conflict throughout time, and is used to keep whole populations under control. I fail to see how any rational human being can believe in a god. We are told that god is responsible for a good harvest, a beautiful sunset or sunrise, the flowers and trees, and everything lovely, and yet when there is a famine it is the fault of man! What happened to taking responsibility for your actions? I have asked my wife to put a message on answers if I am struck by lightning to prove that god exists!

I would say no, Religious people would say yes.
But I believe we would actually be better off without it now.
