| Has the U.S. government made a fundamental change with regards to... ...religion/science? (long)? I saw an interview which offered something I'd never thought about religion/science before and wanted to see your take.
The author proposed that the U.S. was founded as a very progressive nation. In the past, the government was "hands off" science. They allowed it to work as a marketplace of ideas (similar to ancient Athens). For the first time in our history, now religion is creeping in, via the government. The government is now attempting to mandate that which is scientific "truth" and that which is not - such as you can see in the push for "Intelligent Design."
Do you agree that this is now happening? Do you see other examples of it? What could be the ramifications for society? |
