I noticed you have this thing called "Christian ethics". Do you think there is more than one kind of ethic? I am not a Christian. What is my ethic called? Something is either ethical or it is not.

Religion can not claim to have their own ethic any more than they can claim to have their own algebra.

Christians, why do you think your religion invented a "new or different" kind of ethic called "Christian ethics"? Why do you even think you need religion, at all, to be ethical, in the first place?

We are all, already, ethical enough to discern from what is ethical, and what is not ethical, in the bible before we even finish reading it. So, obviously, we don't get our morals from the bible.

So, what's up? You went and stole some other religion's book, then tacked your religion's book onto the end of theirs, and now call it "Christian ethics".

No. I'm a Christian, and know plenty of ethical non-Christians. Some people may be confusing the term "ethics" with "values" or "principles". However, I think that most people realize that religion and ethics are separate issues. One need not be religious to be ethical.

Thats the point, wether you believe in god or not or xtianity it is our conscience that seperates from everything else on the planet.
Look at history, the greco- roman empire is highly regarded, but they practiced daily sodomy of children, you could go to the school and pick out a nice11 yr old boyor girl and for a few pennies have at it, and that was the excepted practice.
That was excepted until Germans crushed the empire and killed anyone who mistreated a child. So yes xtian ethics has a bearing on all of our lives
