I took my girlfriend to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater FL. We requested that she be given Lidocaine before the IV needle was inserted (she has no tolerance for pain and faints at the drop of a hat.) The nurse got snippy with me saying "That's not our procedure here." (A hospital that doesn't have Lidocaine? I asked her if they had any band-aids there.) My friend ended up screaming out in pain and fainting from this (the whole waiting room heard it.) Then to make matters worse when they were going to take her for the colonoscopy they told her they were just using a sedative on her....NO PAIN MEDICATION!!!! I actually had to fight with 4 people before they would honor that request....that should automatically be part of the anesthesia, I never heard of doing that procedure without both medicines!!
Needless to say we both were disgusted and want to file a major complaint about the way they treat patients. I can't believe that two simple requests weren't accomdated. Any advice?
