I bowl in a fun league with three of my friends. We are excellent bowlers and have a team scratch(w/o handicap) average of 772. We are there to have fun and do not take it seriously. The handicap for each team is 90% of 800. In our case, 800-772= 28x.9= 25.2. Our team handicap is 25.

One woman on another team was complaining to everyone that we bowl too high. The thing is, 1st and 4th place is separated by only 3 points and if 2nd place took all of theirs, we wouldn't even have sole possession of 1st place going into next week.

What this woman does not realize is that since handicap is added before the first person bowls, we do not even gain the lead until the 7th or 8th frame. If someone on my team bowls 15-20 pins under their average, that means unless the 3 others make it up, the game is decided in the 10th frame, hardly a blowout.

I find it absolutely unnecessary to complain when we are not even running away with it. What are your opinions?
