...are commonly negotiated? The largest wage disparities occur in management roles where salaries, bonuses, promotions, raises and benefits are usually negotiated at the time of hiring or promotion. Most of the disparity in wages between men and women is attributed to women failing to negotiate and demand a higher salary. I know this isn't the case 100 percent of the time but men make more money because they are often more confident and demanding especially when it comes time to ask the boss for a wage increase. It seems like this is another case of a group of people blaming another for their own short-comings.
Does a woman with the same job as me have a right to complain if I make more money because I asserted myself and asked for a raise? If she also asks and is turned down despite the fact she is an equally able worker then yes that is wrong, but again women simply just don't assert themselves as much as men do when it comes to salary negotiations.
nsanet: How is that bull. A company is in business to make money. They won''t jsut go around handing out raises. Does anyone pay the sticker price for a used car?...NO! Because the advertised price is the one favorable to the dealer just as an advertised salary is favorable to an employer. Its up to the worker to get the best deal for themselves. What your saying is if I go ask for a raise and recieve one then the female who didnt ask should automatically get a raise?! Then in that case she either owes me big time or I will want her to ask!
Casey: I agree with you. Next time try reading the question though...Ok sweetheart?
