When it is still clearly women who are the ones that are discriminated?

Not sure. I am a huge feminist and a TON of men get freaked out by it. I think because they are afraid that women have brains. Our society tells us women that we need to be blond and chesty. That's how men expect us. Reality check: women who are worthwhile aren't a size 2. They don't have fake blond hair OR fake boobs. Men are shallow.

Umm, How exactly are women still discriminated? If anything there is more discrimination against men in today's society. Why do you think women are constantly portrayed as angels who can do no wrong while men are always portrayed as sex hungry, lazy, abusing pigs.

No I don't think most men do complain about feminists. And I don't think most women think most men complain about feminists. Most ordinary, normal people just don't give a rats arse about them.

If any group or members of a cause run out of real issues to address and start whinging and complaining about everything and anything, the rest of the world stops paying attention.

@animallover - Case in point. There are issues that do deserve attention. Equal pay for example. I'm all for it. But if the best you can come up with is complaining that society expects women to be chesty and blonde, or that 'all men are shallow', most people won't even pay attention long enough to hear the end of your sentence.

Because anytime there's a group that exists solely to represent a demographic that you don't belong to, they're always just drama queens. It works the same way in race relations. Whites resent the NAACP simply because they represent not whites. The same goes for feminism.

Just about every feminist I've seen/heard has been sexist. Sexism for either side pisses me off.

And what the hell do you mean women are the ones that are discriminated? That's about as ignorant as saying racism towards blacks is still greatly prevalent in America.

I think one reason men complain is because they hear mostly the loudest group (or at least this group stands out because of their views) - the hardcore, extreme, so-called "man-haters".

You know, the ones who say crap like "Wouldn't it be nice if there were only women in the world" or "Now that we have genetic engineering, we can finally be free of those animals!” This small minority tends to draw attention to itself.

If you feel like you are under attack, your basic response is to defend yourself or fight back.

Another reason is because of the perception of a double standard. The perception that feminist want equality only when it suits them. That they want all the benefits of but none of the drawbacks of being equal. I'm not saying that’s true, but that is an impression that many men have, and I have meet and known women like that.

I for one believe in equality, but I also think you can’t have it both ways. We’re either equal or we're not.

Also, I think some of it is just plain ignorance. A lot of men really don’t know what feminism is (or at least not the details) and that doesn't help either.

I myself have only a basic idea about the philosophy, but I've listened enough that I know that there are many feminist who are reasonable, logical people who just want a even shake in the world.
