...contributed to the situation? China holds the world's largest foreign exchange reserves, no thanks to US buying all the cheap and low quality stuff from them. The US has also overlooked the abuses and exploitation of the workers in China's factories.

China does not have to "take any military actions" to shake the US and the world, it just needs to use the foreign reserves it holds.

Am I being too simplistic, in thinking, this whole situation could have been avoided, if we had paid a little bit more and bought quality goods from our own countries (which would have created jobs), and countries that respect "Human Rights" and can be counted on to "play fair" in the Global stage.

we are stupid, greedy and selfish and naive to boot. it will catch up with us sooner or later. i think we are hearing the giant sucking sounds even as we speak.
