When you scream, do you actually scream?

Do you really scream? Or do ou imitate a screaming sound? Some people tell me to actually scream, while others say that when you scream, the volume is as though you're talking. So which one is it?

It really depends on what I'm screaming about. It also depends on WHERE I was when I'm screaming. If I'm in a screaming chamber then I really scream but if I'm at school I scream softly and and I imitate a screaming sound.
