I took my rat to Banfield pet hospital to have my rat checked out for a skin problem and a possible resp. infection. It turned out I waited 45 mins to see the doc. when the assistant came in, she grabbed my rat by the nape of the neck (despite skin problem) and let go really fast when he screeched really loud in pain. then the doctor came in. she didnt listen to his heart with her stethascope at all and was extremely cold. she couldnt answer simple questions like :what is bruxing, eye boggling. I told her he grinds his teeth (testing her. the answer is bruxing) and instead of knowing that, she insisted on checking his teeth. she brought in in the back, and the assistant returned him with a huge cut inside his mouth- with purple bruises around it. she didnt discuss how to prevent injury or care the the wound, and rushed out quickly. at this point, i left in shock. I nicely explained to the receptionist I wasnt paying for this treatment on my animal, and left.

now there calling asking for their bill.
I refuse to pay it especially because I brought him to another exotic animal specialist who said
a) she did an unnessary exam on his mouth
b)they arent supposed to check mouths without sedation

c) for the exam, she listened to his heart with her ear, and stethascope, and did a test: constricting his airway with her hand, and measuring the time it takes for it to come back. Banfield did not do any of this
d) she talked to the rat to relax him, and held him gently, supporting his bottom. -banfield grabed him by the skin on his neck.
