Thread: what do i do if she complains about her dad?

Alright so this girl I talk to has a really douchebag-like dad and she talks to me about it a lot. what can i say or do??? i have no clue what to do except agree with her and ive tried to help the situation but whenever i bring something up like trying to figure out what the problem is... it usually doesnt get solved very well that way. help ):?

I'm not sure what he's doing but I can tell you that you're helping her just by talking to her. My mom gets drunk sometimes and since I'm the oldest she takes out whatever complaints she has out on me. No physically but she says really hurtful things to make her feel better and apoligises for them afterwards. Theres nothing I can really do because its her desision to keep drinking but it feels SO GOOD to tell my best friend what she does and just to hear that its going to be ok and that shes there for me. Thats what I'd do, just support your friend and let her know that you're there for her until a better solution presents itself. Good Luck and I hope her situation gets better :/

Just be a good listener. I don't think she is expecting you to fix the situation, she just needs someone she can vent her frustrations to. So just listen.
