    would you complain about this?

would you complain if your child in secondary school is in a foundation class. where the highest grade your child can get is a C. and you no that they should not be in that set.

If I were a qualified teacher and assessed them to be capable of higher or intermediate stream material yes. However, if I just felt aggrieved I would reflect on the fact that I were not a qualified teacher and had no way of assessing my child's capability and in all probability respect the teacher's opinion. A good idea would be to find a teacher (preferably a specialist in the subject being discussed) and have them assess your child, if they are found to be capable of higher or intermediate stream material take this teacher's signed findings and present them to the head of department (of the subject in question) or to your child's pastoral manager and ask them for considered reasons why they feel your child is better off in the foundation class.

You have to ask your child. I assume you are talking about Standard Grades so they are old enough. If your child feels that they are bored in the class, are getting 100% grades every time and feel like they need harder work then, yes, by all means get in touch with the school to have them moved up to General or even Credit classes. If your child is working as hard as they can, if they feel challenged by the class and they tell you that they are in the right class then leave them where they are and your problem is solved.

    SPEAK TO YOUR CHILDREN PEOPLE!!!

A child in a foundation class deserves to be there. If he actually applied himself, he would not be there in the first place. So, yeah, he probably deserves a C or a worse grade.
