...against the war, yet we only spend? 4% of our countries GNP on Defense for our country.... that includes the cost of war and all other defense appropiations. When JFK was President it was 9%.

Is this really too much to pay to protect, defend and spread freedom?

(this article was 2004... today we are at 4%.

So how is it that we are just spending WAY too much?

Beginning in the early 1950s and throughout the cold war, America spent on average 6–8 percent of its gross national product (GNP) on defense, regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican was in the Oval Office. It briefly dropped slightly below 5 percent in 1977–78 only to rise again.

Even at 6 - 8% this is nothing new from the last 60 years.

Less % of GNP... less in lives relative to other wars...

Again... how do liberals justify the war costing too much?
towww... do I need to show the numbers of casualties for the last 6 wars we have been involved in... Iraq is incredibly low in comparison. Each person who lost their life is of course one too many.... but freedom does come at a price... and I am thankful for those who serve to protect it.
