The installer forgot to cap off the old dryer vent duct when he installed our new

one, should he come back? We had 50 feet of dryer ducting that made for excessive drying times so we had an installer put in a 13 foot dryer vent duct.
Installer said he would cap it off. Is this an easy process? Doesn't the cap cost like a few dollars?

He also took 5 feet of our old vent ducting for some reason. I wonder why.

Yes he should fix it for $50 for a service trip. You could stuff a rag in it.

Did you pay him to cap it off or only to install a new one?

Did you pay him to install a new duct and new vent cap, and also to remove the existing duct work and vent cap. Doesn't sound like it. I guess if you had expressively had an agreement to cap the old one off then yes, otherwise no.

I will directly answer the question after re reading my answer. If he forgot to cap off the old dryer duct, then the answer is yes, you have inferred there was an agreement for him to do so.
