it probably needs company. Some dogs get depressed when their alone. Maybe you should let it sleep with you or near you
My dog was six month old when I got him, too. And just like yours, he whined and whined on his first night. This is because I tried to make him sleep in the kitchen (because I didn't know if he was potty trained yet, I didn't want him peeing on the carpet). Is yours in your bedroom? If he's not, let him in. He's scared and lonely. If he still whines in your bedroom, let him sleep in the bed with you. If he's still whining then, give him treats while in bed, which will help him to not be scared. I know this may seem like spoiling him, but puppies are never happy unless they are with you. And they sure like cuddling.
Do you have a pet carrier if you do put him in it and put a blanket or towel over it but make sure he or she can breath. Put food and water in there for him or her then put it in the bathroom shut off the lights and close the door if the pup keeps it up I'm not sure what to do try putting him in your bed with you your puppy is in a new place and will need a couple of weeks to adjust to his new home
Put him in your room with you. If he is in a crate then give him a pair of your pjs to sleep with make sure you have worn them first. Or just let him sleep in your bed like i do with my dog.
6 months old? he probably misses his first family (if it was a good one) and is homesick...Do you know what his sleeping arrangments were there? Did he have a bed that they sent with u? if you know previous owners, and he liked them, maybe they can give you something like a towel that smells like there and he can sleep with it... Is he kennel trained? We had our pup in a a kennel at night till he was fully trained and he did the whinning for the first few nights.. but got used to it. You have to just leave your dog where ever you choose.. and be strict. He will realize that he is not going to get his way... and stop soon...
Put it in a doggie bed right next to your bed. Hes just scared.
