My husband and I have been married for 11 years and we have a 10 year old daughter.
My daughter went over to a friend's house and she told me that they played with this kid's BB gun. I was quite upset and I thoroughly explained to her why she should NOT be touching any type of gun. I told her that she could hurt herself, other people or animals, etc.
After the talk, my husband said that I had been too hard on her and if I overreact to things like that then our daughter would be more likely to do it again. I feel like I was not nearly hard enough and that I was simply explaining the consequences that could result in playing with a dangerous item.
How should I handle a situation like this again if my husband and I can't agree on how we should parent our daughter? What do you do if you and your spouse do not agree on parenting methods?

Thanks!
