11th grd. due to being short 3 cred? he failed two summer school classes and is blaming spec ed for not providing support needed in IEP.. when really it was students laziness and attendance that causd him to fail.
We have an itinerant learning support setting ...summer school includes kids with IEPS and those w/o...teacher was aware of students goals. Simply the student is lazy ..wants to move on with his peers...cannot..and should not. There was sufficient communication with the parent...she is just fearful her son will drop out. A twilight school may work but still 3 credits under will not bring him up to his senior yr i'd think...

Okay, you must be a Special Ed. Teacher. Bless you. We both know that the parent is going to scream "due process" because she has failed to stay on top of her child for the past 3 years. She has allowed herself and her son to use the program as a crutch as MANY of the parents do and she will be allowed to scream whatever she pleases. Come on. You know it's true. I've been a teacher for 11 years and have dealt with IEPs and 504s for at least 9 of those years. There are too many students in the programs that don't need to be. If administration/school system back you ...I'll be surprised. They may act as though they are going to support you in the beginning but, all they have to hear is "lawsuit" to back down quick. How unfortunate. Good luck!
