My daughter's kid is over while she's working and he's whining for her?

I think he's a bit of a mummy's boy. Granny nor Grandad can do anything really to comfort him. His mum's been on a business weekend this last weekend and has a lot of work to do today. Her little boy just keeps whining for her all the time and says that she promised to spend some time with him today. I rung her up and she said that she'll spend some time with him tonight.

How do I comfort him in the mean time? And what sort of thing shall I tell her to do with him?

He's 6, nearly 7.

Do something with him to get his mind off his mother. C'mon Gramps....you've done this before. Take him to a park, teach him how to ride a bike, teach him how to catch a ball. Have him help you plant flowers or something...jeez.
