Smart Camcorder Wizard for Mac-Help Manage/Transfer HD Videos from camcorder/camera to Mac

Although many cameras/camcorders can be connected to your Mac computer (often with a USB or FireWire cable) without installing any software, some manufacturers require or recommend that you install software, otherwise the cams can not be recognized by Mac.

If you're looking for more professional approach to organize, edit, and share camera and AVCHD camcorder shootings, try Pavtube Media Magician for Mac for video editing. New released Pavtube Media Magician for Mac comes with a camera wizard that allows you to quickly transfer video from most cameras - including digital cameras (Canon Vixia, Panasonic Lumix), HDD based camcorders (Sony Handycam, Panasonic HD, JVC Everio, etc) and flash drive cameras – to Mac HDD. It is easy to filter and choose desired clips by film date or file type for downloading to your computer. And there is a built-in media library for you to organize existing HD footage.

Ideally, Pavtube Media Magician for Mac lets you download HD clips from camera/camcorder, perform minor editing tasks (clip scenes, cut frames, merge AVCHD recordings, add 3D effects), and then compress the video to iPad/iPod/iPhone compatible formats or export intermediate codec like Apple Intermediate codec, Apple ProRes 422 and Avid DNxHD for post-production in more professional video editing software.

Feel like giving it a try? Download a trial and follow the instructions below to transfer HD footage from camcorder to Mac.

Step 4. The prompt window pops up. Press Yes to allow the smart camcorder wizard to run.

Step 5. The smart camcorder wizard launches, and detects the HD footage on your camcorder HDD/camera card. You can preview them and decide which videos to be transferred to Mac HDD. Uncheck videos that you don’t want to keep.

Step 6. If/When there are too many videos to choose from, use the filter to display HD footage by shooting time or file type, as it shows below.

Step 7. Check the "Back Files to Local" box, and specify a patch to save the camcorder shootings to. Then click "Start" to get the camcorder wizard start downloading selected HD footage to Mac HDD. Keep your camcorder connected to Mac until the transfer process completes. The cam videos will be displayed in Media Magician library as well.

Step 8. To disconnect the camcorder when finished, control-click the device in the devices list and select Unmount, or power off the camcorder.

You can now use iMovie or other app to edit the camera shootings. If, however, your video editor does not recognize cam video format, use Media Magician to transcode your AVCHD/MTS/M2TS/TOD/MOD/MXF video to intermediate codec.
