I am not overly familiar with the LHC, but it is kind of freaky that we built one and plan to use it. I know some scientists have spoken up about the safety of it, but I was wondering who they are (hope to goodness they are not the same ones who think human induced global warming is a sham). Anyone? Also, the Yahoo article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080628/ap_on_re_eu/doomsday_collider) stats that "The physicist Martin Rees has estimated the chance of an accelerator producing a global catastrophe at one in 50 million — long odds, to be sure, but about the same as winning some lotteries." Um, hello, that is a little too close of odds for me to be messing with the fate of the world and all humanity.

I call that there needs to be 100% of the entire world vote prior to it starting, meaning that all leaders from recognized nations must vote 100% in favor to start the LHC up.
