good, interesting history essay topics?

so i am in the 10th grade and we need to write a three page essay about anything we want before the 1900's in America. I want it to be something unique, interesting, something not a lot of people know about, or controversial. Any ideas? Funny essay topics also work because my History teacher has a huge sense of humor so he'll get it :)

Spies!! How do you think famous generals made such good strategies? They needed the right info.
When I did a group project for the Civil War, I chose to focus on spies, and it didn't go unnoticed by the teacher.
