You know how when you go into the app store, then you click updates and then you have a 'purchased' section with a list of all the apps you've ever downloaded? well what im asking is how you go on and delete apps from there.

You can't. But you can delete ones that are on your iPhone home screen. Just touch them for a few seconds, and they should be all wiggly, then you can delete them that way.
Easy ! Hold the app you wanna delete on the screen for couple of seconds and when the Cross Button on left hand side appeared tap it with your finger and bam, deleted !
