Nokia N95 Sound Problem.?

For some reason, when i plug my headphones into my N95 the sound still comes through the phone speakers, then when i go to play music, it plays through the little speaker which is used for calls. If i listen carefully through the headphones there is a very quiet 'clicking' sound. I reset the phone then it worked fine but when i tried it again later the same thing happened. I have reset the phone two more times since and the same thing keeps happening. Im not sure if its anything to do with it overheating a couple of days ago as it used to work fine. and just to make it clear, when i plug the headphones in, the menu comes up asking what kind of device it is, i then select 'headphones' then the little headphone icon shows but doesnt work. Anyone got any ideas why?
