Because that would make the word of God a lie. The BIBLE is the word of GOD, not of man. We can't choose what is a sin and what is not HE did.

first of all, america is not a christian country.
secondly the bible already includeds gays and lesbians in it. it says that homosexuality is a sin.
we cannot just decide what the bible is supposed to say. that is up to God to decide. the bible is his word, not ours. he is the one who had people write it down the way he told them to write it.
Re-writing the Bible is the same as taking an author's novel and editing it.
Without permission, it is libelous.
Because we are commanded to not add and take anything away from the Bible. And because homosexuality is a big sin, it's considered sexual immorality.
