The public didn't vote for the passage of the Patriot Act....It was another Act the government passed that abused the constitution.

Only congress voted for the passage of the patriot act and it had nothing to do with the confiscation of guns.

Your premise is false. We did not vote for the patriot act and we never approved of the Patriot Act. We consider the Patriot Act to be a violation of The Constitution of The United States of America.
