Will I get arrested for downloading a torrent?

I want to download the PC version of LEGO Marvel Superheroes for free for my little brother but I can't afford it and I'd like to download a torrent of the game. Is it safe to download torrents? Will the police track me down? How long will they track me if I do? Are torrents safe and how do you know if they don't have viruses? Sorry for asking too much in one question I'm just really new to torrents and I'd like to know as much as I can to be safe. Thank you for your answers in advance.
Also another thing if you have any good or bad experience with torrents please share them. I'd like to learn from you.
