Buying new smartphone to use on Rogers?

Hey,

I have an iPhone on a contract that I want to get rid of. I am planning to buy a new smartphone for full price (from Rogers) or on-line. If I do that, can I just swap the SIM card, or do I have to contact Rogers to have them switch it, etc.
