Western Conference
1.) Lakers- They added another wing defender in artest and got odom back. They have great defense, inside scoring, athleticism, passing, and outside shooting. They have a great duo with Gasol and Kobe and they play great on the road.
2.) Mavericks- They are the most underrated team and everyone is selling them short. They are a great come from behind team that has alot of resiliency. Dirk is the best player on the planet. They got Marion who covers up all their weaknesses. He can guard the quick point guards that give Jason kidd trouble, and he can guard all 5 positions. He's athletic and a great rebounder. Howard played great toward the end of the year averaging 19ppg in 26 minutes with a bummed ankle. He is healthy now and if he can step it up like that, it puts dallas over the top. Terry is a great scorer, barea is improving, gooden adds post play and rebounding and Thomas is a great clutch 3 point shooter.
3.) Spurs- They added mcdycee, jefferson, and ratliff. Duncan and ginobli are healthy now and they are deep with defense and offense. They have shooters surrounding duncan with, finley, ginobili, mason, and bonner. Parker and Ginobili are great scorers.
4.) Trailblazers- They signed Miller, they will get webster back, they get an automatic talent boost because they are all young, Roy is emerging as a superstar and Oden will be healthy. They will be great. Also Juwan and Udoka were nice pickups.
5.) Nuggets- They have balance on offense but lost key players in jones, klieza, and carter. However Carmelo is turning into a superstar and Billups has a entire training camp to mesh this team together. They will be great.
6.) Jazz- If they keep Boozer they will have the 5th seed. All the key players were hurt last year and now that they are healthy they are deeper, especially with Millsap improving. Their ability to win games at home should get them alot of wins. They just need to step it up on the road.
7.) Suns- They got rid of Shaq and lost Barnes. They are not good defensively but Amar'e will be back and i think that their offense with gentri coaching them will be off the charts. Last year when he took over the head coach role, the suns scored 140+ points 3 straight times even without amare.
8.) Clippers- They get Kamen back who was hurt last year and when healthy he is a legit post player who can defend and rebound. They got Blake Griffin who is athletic and can benifit from playing with Baron Davis, who is one of the best point guards in the NBA. Thorton and Gordan are young improving players and Camby and Ricky Davis are legit veterans. They get the 8th spot.
Eastern Conference
1.) Celtics- They still have the big three and KG is back now. He is the key to their defense and when he plays at home in Boston, it is tough for opposing teams to score in that smothering atmosphere he brings. They also added athletic Daniels and Versatile Wallace. Rondo and Perkins also improved a lot and Rondo is emerging a a star point guard.
2.) Magic- They got better from last year. They added bass and carter along with Barnes. Dwight will improve and the backcourt that got them to the finals was alston/lee now its Nelson/carter. They also have rashard lewis who hits big three's. This team is resilient and shooters surrounding Dwight like carter, nelson , johnson, pietrus, lewis, barnes, and redick all shoot high three point percentages which usually devastates teams.
3.) Cavaliers- They signed moon, got shaq, and parker and they have lebron who can carry a team on his back. If they get powe, that will only be a bonus.
4.) Wizards- They get Arenas back and they added mike miller, randy foye, brendan haywood and stevenson are healthy, plus mcgee and blatch are improving players. They have increased alot since last year and they will score huge numbers.
5.) Hawks- They are just like the blazers in the east, they are a young team that automatically gets a talent boost, joe johnson is becoming a superstar and jamal crawford is a great scorer and addition.
6.) Pistons- They added alot of pieces with wallace, wilcox, and gordan, prince and hamilton are still quality players and stucky, bynum, and maxiell that are improving. Villenueva was also a great addition.
7.) Heat- Dywane Wade is a great player that can carry a team and if they get iverson they can be a 6th maybe 5th seed but if not they get 7th.
8.) Raptors- This spot was for the bulls but they didnt do anything but lose gordan while the raptors got Turkaglu, wright, jack, and belinelli. Bosh is a stud and i think this team surrounding him can do damage.
