    why should the U.S public bother voting if the electoral college can...

    ...conspire and elect whom they want ? why should the U.S public bother voting if the electoral college can conspire and elect whom they want ?
    Why not elect the president on simple majority public vote?

    I am from Kenya and i find the U.S election system flawed

    Nothing is perfect. The US system is the least flawed. It works for 200+ years, my friend.

    Well, thank you person from Kenya. Since you find our system so flawed, I guess we should trust that judgment.

    The electoral college casts their vote based on the popular vote in their district. It has worked for over 225 years.

    But I am glad you can put in your opinion. That is part of our Constitution. Freedom of speech, the first amendment.

    It once served the purpose of protecting the public from making uninformed decisions that would do them harm. It no longer functions in the same way and only serves to create an additional type of corruption. (packing and splitting of districts.)
