Because they are staying illegally because folks are "afraid to hurt feelings" and forcing them to be legal.
Because they know they can break our laws and get away with it. Illegals get more in social services benefits than legal citizens who have contributed to the system for 40 years, so why become a citizen if you are better off as an illegal?
The system has to change to the extent where illegals can be hunted down like dogs by any legal citizen. The ilelgals should be impressed into chain gangs and forced to work on public works projects without pay for 5 years and then deported. When the penalties of remaining an illegal exceed the penalties for becoming a citizen, things will change.
Actually, a huge number are applying for citizenship. The immigration raids and massive crackdown on criminal green card holders have scared them and they want citizenship.
