I need to know what one is and one that would fit Rome.
The soothsayer told Julius Caesar to beware a certain day. It's in Act I.
Soothsayers predict the future. A lot of times they used birds as a omen (if they fly to the left beware!). They also examined livers of some animals to predict the future. The latin word for a soothsayer is haruspex.
A soothsayer is one who predicts the future. One guy soothed that Rome would burn to the ground and he was almost right. He soothed a bunch of other things but it turned out he was dead wrong about most of them.
