How To Make Gay Friends In High School ?!?

Next year I'm going into high school. I was never popular in middle school, mostly because I was awkward and shy. Im strait, but I really want a gay guy friend to hang out with.

First of all, is it wrong for me to want a gay friend? I mean, I'm not stereotyping. I know not all gay guys love to sit around and talk about fashion. But I just want a close friend who I can talk to about anything, so I want a gay guy friend. Is that wrong?

Secondly, how would I go about making this gay friend? Of course I'm nice to everyone, but I've never been the best at starting conversations, or making friends. I'm a straight girl, so I don't know if any gay guy would want to hang out with me. What do you think?
