Why don't the Hebrews believe any of the prophecies about Jesus from the...

...old testament, it was their religion? Not once was Jesus' name mentioned in the Hebrew text of the old testament yet Christians say there were many prophecies.

Somebody just posted a complete list of OT messianic prophecies that Jesus did not fulfill. Christians skate around this by saying Jesus will come back a second time, then fulfill all those prophecies.

The actions and words of Jesus were not the one they were expecting from him as prophesied.
He changed a lot from the Old Testament and it was only fitting for the Hebrew to doubt if he was the one.

You may read my source to find out why.

Amazing isn't it? That you know your Messiah is coming. And they don't believe it. Whoops excuse me, They knew HE was coming, But what or who HE was coming for?.And those that did know?

They thought this meant that JESUS would annihilate the Romans. That was not HIS role at that coming, He came to break the bonds of sin. And to give all who believe in HIM, everlasting life.

There are Christian Jews. And more coming aboard each day.

And your right, JESUS name was never mentioned in the Old Testament. But who do you think the Prophets where talking about when they said that the Messiah was coming, A Savior of all, Great King and Consular??

    GOD Bless YA,

    Chicago Bob. (Imasinner)

Please pray for our Country and Our President (DAILY)

There is more Joy in JESUS in 24 hours, Than there is in the World in 365 Days. I have tried them both.(ME TO)

Why would Jesus' name be mentioned in the Old Testament, when His name wasn't announced until the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary and Joseph in the New Testament?

If I said "the person posting this question" without mentioning your first name, people would still know who I was talking about. It's the same with the prophecies about Jesus; the prophets gave us information about Him so we'd know who He was.

And I think you mean "Jews" and not "Hebrews". There are many Jews who do believe that Jesus is the Christ.

No Jew accepts Jesus as the Messiah. When someone makes that faith commitment, they become Christian. It is not possible for someone to be both Christian and Jewish.
Jews reject Jesus as the Messiah because he didn't fulfill Jewish expectations of the Messiah.
The Hebrew Bible (called the Old Testament by the non-Jewish world) is not proof for anything in the New Testament regarding a Messiah.
The Hebrew Bible describes the Messiah as a national savior who would arrive at the time of the Babylonian exile (hundreds of years before Christianity) and restore the nation of Israel with a capital at Jerusalem.

The original "messianic" aspirations of the Jewish People was to return from Exile and to restore the Davidic dynasty and the Jewish nation. While there was partial fulfillment of those hopes, given the return from Babylonia and the rebuilding of the Second Temple, new ideas were arising in that part of the world.

In fact, it's hard to "dissect" out the incredibly varied and related philosophical, religious, theological ideas that individuals and communities began to develop from 515 BCE - roughly the time of the beginning of the Second Temple - through the year 200 CE which was the editing of the Mishna, following the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE and the failures of several revolts, especially that of Bar Kochba in 132 CE.

The major questions began to shift under Greek influence (Plato's idea of two entities - body and soul, material and spirit) and the Zoroastrian dualism of two competing forces, good and evil. When you complicate that mixture with the "obvious" reality of an unfair world in which the majority of people simply tried to survive, let alone hope for justice, equity and reward for their piety or their good deeds even though they witnessed many evil people "succeed" at least materially - there "had to be a better way." Enter the notion of a world after this one, or perhaps a time period after this present, where the good would be rewarded and the bad punished.

Hmmmm. That's a problem if you are dead. Soooo, we now have new theories of eternal spiritual selves awaiting a Day of Judgement or a theory of resurrection after which God would sort out the good from the bad people.

I hope you understand by now it's far from simple. In the middle of all this, some Jews began to look for a national leader - not unlike the restored kings of the Second Temple, the military leaders and kings, not unlike the Hasmoneans or Maccabbees (who turned out not to be what they started out being), perhaps even Bar Kochba - who would restore a Jewish country where Jews could live, worship and practice their own tradition. If and when you believe this, then the idea of a Messiah becomes part of the mix.

The various political and religious parties disagreed over such ideas, including that of a Messiah, and those who did believe in a future Messiah - not Jesus or any of the other messianic figures running about at that time - they survived and kept the belief and hope for a Messiah in Jewish tradition such that Maimonides himself includes it in his essential principles of Jewish belief.

In sum, today some do and some don't believe in a personal Messiah or a person as a Messiah, and others speak of a messianic period when life is good for all humanity.

    Hope this helps
    Halcon :-)

Because it is a Greek translation which varies from the Hebrew translation and also includes other scripture not written by the Hebrews in the time period that the Greek translations were written. There are different time lines and accounts of events that are not similar but do not conflict with one another either. Full understanding of both sets of scripture would prove that the two should be together.

That's because the bible is not older than the dark age era of the last insane despot Roman emperor Constantine.

Constantine historically was worse than any 10 Hitlers put together. And was a devout follower of the Roman Mithratic religion. The gospels all date to his era and all follow that religion to the letter. Constantine is the guy responsible for bringing the bible as we know it into existence.

The Jews are still waiting for their messiah because Jesus never existed. There is more external evidence for the lost continent of Atlantis than for Jesus. Atlantis gets one mention in history... Plato.

The bible proves to be a bastardized mixture of stolen misquoted material from the Jewish, Roman Mithratic and Celtic pagan belief systems. And dates to no older than the dark ages.

    Practicing Shaman... quantum physics rocks.
