Thread: Should I go to school for something I enjoy doing or something that is...

...going to give me a secure future? I love fashion and shopping, etc. I really would like to go to school for Fashion Merchandising, however, sometimes I think that going to school to be a nurse, or a dental hygiensit would be a better choice because it's a more "secure" job. What do you think? Has anyone went to school for something that they liked and realized that they should have went to school for something else..?

well if you think like that maybe you can Major in nursing and Minor in Design or whatever its called.

I was going to major in Psychology, but now I'm going to major in Business.

but the way this economy is looking right now...i dont know if Business is even THAT secure of a job anymore...

Is there any way you can take both courses? Major in one and minor in the other. That way you can do either when you graduate.

There is nothing saying you have to have only one choice.

Or, take the safe route for now and then go to night school for the other once you have started working. You never know, you may end up really liking working with people doing the nursing or dental hygienist.
