    in the near future i plan on dropping about 3k on equipment to start a...

    ...video production company and need some.? tips on hardware. im going the pc route b/c i dont know how to use macs but plan on learning at some point. ive looked at many pc's and cams and plan on going with the dell quad core with 8gb and hd vid card from bestbuy and a canon hv30 cam. anyone have any advice tech wise like what specs i should look for in a pc primarily for editing video? any help is appreciated. thank you.

    Since you are going to be dealing with video files, you would definitely want lots of hard drive space. Definitely get something in the 500 GB to 1 TB range. Preferably one that is 7200 RPM.

    Also, since you are going PC, I hate to say this, but get Vista. Vista allows you to put much more ram into your computer. This will help speed up the process when you are rendering video footage.

    You will also need a good video card. I would recommend an Nvidia card that is DDR3 somewhere between 512MB - 1GB.

    For your monitor, get a 22". This allows you to have multiple programs open without them overlapping on the screen. Or go dual monitors. This is really a personal preference area.
