Macbeth and banquo react differently to the witches prophecies. Why? How will this affect the play?
It shows the difference between good and evil. Macbeth became evil after listening to the witches but Banquo refused to become evil.
I just finished reading Macbeth in class and my opinion as to why they react differently is because Banquo is wiser than Macbeth and he is not going to believe everything the witches tell him. In the end, it is partly because of the Witches that Macbeth dies. He was overconfident when they told him no man born of a woman could kill him. The twist on that was that Macduff had born Caesarean section. So in the end, Macbeth hurt himself by reacting to the withces prophecies the way he did. I hope this pretty much answered your question
