Yes for Kobe.
Yes for Shaq.
And probably Phil Jackson's name will be up there too one day.
But that's it.
If Byron Scott's number isn't retired, Derek Fisher's certainly won't be.
No for Kurt Rambis.... if there were plans for that, they'd have done it by now. He's not a retired number type of guy, especially with a storied franchise like the Lakers, even though he was a big part of their success in the 1980s.
In fact, re: Fisher and Rambis - take a look at the numbers the Lakers have retired:
13 - Wilt Chamberlain
22 - Elgin Baylor
25 - Gail Goodrich
32 - Magic Johnson
33 - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
42 - James Worthy
44 - Jerry West
Then ask yourself if Kurt Rambis or Derek Fisher belongs in a group with these guys.
Pao needs to do a whole lot more with the Lakers in order to get his number retired. Who knows how long he's going to play there? But he's not even remotely near the retired number level at this point.

Johnny, as far as retiring coaches "numbers", the Knicks "retired" Red Holzman's number (613, which = his number of wins as a coach)... the Celtics "retired" the #2 in honor of Red Auerbach, and the #1 in honor of their long time owner, Walter Brown. So both coaches and owners can be honored in this way, even if they've never worn the uniform.
Fisher? Are you kidding me? As for Phil, he never played for LA, he played for the Knicks. You don't retire coach's "numbers."
