Thread: how do you picture the distant future?

Predicting the future cannot be done, at least, not as in "On July 24th, 2017, so and so will die".

Of course, you can extrapolate current research and political trends and try and guess what the world will be like in the distant future.

And scientists can calculate the paths of comets, asteroids, planets, and the like, so they can tell you when the next eclipse will be several years in advance, for instance.
