The safest place to get them from is from the official GHD website because there are lots of copies going round unofficial sites which rip you off completely. They heat up within seconds and it makes straightening you hair almost effortless. They are great. And also I think you can sometimes get offers where you can trade in your old GHD's and get 20% or something off a new pair.
    Hope this helped.

There's a lot of debate on this, and personally I use a Conair ceramic, it costs about $50, has a slide-in plate with a bristle brush and a plastic wider toothed comb so you don't need to fuss with a comb or brush while straightening, it gets pretty fricken hot, and the heat is what matters. It does take longer than a professional iron, but the cost difference for me was huge enough I stuck with mine since I loved the comb attachments, like a hotcomb but better even!

That said, I have had a friend use those on me, and I did love it, it did work FAST and it did stay straight even with humidity, so if you're needing something quick and don't want to experiment with other irons to see if you can get a good result for less, go for it! They do work really well =o)
