Anyone who reads a lot of science magazines or what not could you please answer the following:

How long will it be before we have science fiction type space ships roaming about with artificial gravity, laser cannons and the ability to fly between star systems?

What do you expect they will look like? In almost all science fiction the space ships have a unique style to that fictional universe. What sort of style will real space war ships look like?

Will they have the 'escape pods' featured in so much sci fi or would these be impractical in a real space ship?
